Armadillidium vulgare "Magic Potion" - Japanese Magic Potion Isopods
Japanese Magic Potions are one of the most colorful forms of Armadillidium vulgare, with bright white bodies splashed with irregular black and yellow markings. No two look exactly alike, and a well-established colony can have a surprising amount of variation from animal to animal.
They're hardy, active and relatively straightforward to maintain, making them a good choice for newer isopod keepers who want something more unusual than the standard beginner species. They do well with a moisture gradient, good ventilation, plenty of leaf litter, decaying wood and a dependable calcium source.
Like other A. vulgare, they can roll themselves into a tight ball when disturbed and tend to become increasingly visible as the colony grows.
