Blue Death Feigning Beetles are one of the coolest desert invertebrates you can keep and about as easygoing as they come. Their powdery blue appearance comes from a waxy coating that helps protect them from the extremely dry conditions of their native Sonoran and Mojave Desert habitat.
Of course, the behavior that gives them their name is even better. When sufficiently startled, they'll tuck in their legs, roll over and convincingly play dead until they decide the danger has passed.
They're hardy, long lived, easy to feed and can be kept together in groups, making them excellent display animals for both new and experienced invertebrate keepers. Give them a dry setup with plenty of surface area, hides and climbing structure and they'll spend a surprising amount of time wandering around where you can actually see them.
