These are one of the more unusual-looking isopods in the hobby, with a heavily textured, spiky body that gives them an almost armored appearance. The sculpted dorsal surface makes them stand out immediately from the smoother-bodied species most people are used to seeing.
They're a smaller tropical species that appreciates a humid setup with good ventilation, a consistent moisture gradient, plenty of leaf litter and decaying wood. They can be a little slower to establish than some common beginner isopods, but once settled in they make a really distinctive display colony.
