Approx. 4" Desert Hairy Scorpion. This is the largest scorpion species native to the United States and one of the most impressive North American arachnids you can keep.
Native to the deserts of the American Southwest, Hadrurus arizonensis are powerful burrowers that spend much of the day underground or tucked beneath cover before becoming more active after dark. Their name comes from the fine sensory hairs covering their body and appendages, which help them detect vibrations and locate prey.
They're hardy, enthusiastic feeders and relatively straightforward to keep when provided with deep, dry substrate, a secure retreat and access to fresh water. Despite their impressive size, they're generally considered a more manageable scorpion species and make excellent display animals.
