Melopoeus vonwirthi - Vietnam Black
Approx. 5" confirmed female already established in a complete glass fossorial enclosure with deep substrate, a secure burrow and water dish. You're getting the tarantula in the habitat she's already established rather than having to immediately rehouse a large fossorial Old World species.
The Vietnam Black is a large, impressive Southeast Asian fossorial tarantula with a heavy build and deep, dark coloration. They're powerful burrowers, fast when disturbed and strong feeders, spending much of their time underground before appearing at the entrance of their retreat when prey is nearby.
They're defensive and have medically significant venom, so this is a species best suited to experienced keepers who are comfortable maintaining large fossorial Old World tarantulas.
Formerly known as Haplopelma vonwirthi and later Cyriopagopus vonwirthi, the currently accepted name is Melopoeus vonwirthi.
