Nhandu chromatus - Brazilian Red & White
Approx. 1-1.25" when purchased and already established in a brand new Tarantula Cribs Small Slider, an enclosure worth about $35 by itself. The enclosure has been set up as a complete naturalistic terrestrial habitat with substrate, cork bark, a water dish and appropriate cover, so you're getting the tarantula and a complete ready-to-go setup rather than just a spider in a vial.
The Brazilian Red & White is a fast-growing, heavy-bodied Brazilian terrestrial with bold white leg striping and reddish-orange abdominal hairs. They're hardy, excellent feeders and often remain visible as they mature. They can be quick and are prone to kicking irritating urticating hairs when disturbed, but their straightforward care still makes them a very approachable species for newer keepers.
This species was moved to Vitalius in 2023, then transferred back to Nhandu in 2026, so Nhandu chromatus is once again the currently accepted name.
